Shauntai Hicks
Assistant Principal
My name is Shauntai Hicks, and I am thrilled to be your assistant principal at Woodridge Elementary. I am a proud product of Dallas ISD and graduated from Lincoln Humanities/Communications Magnet High School.
My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Applied Learning and Development from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Educational Technology Leadership from Lamar University. I am also certified in the following:
-
Core Subjects: EC-6
-
Special Education: EC-12
I began my career in Indianapolis, Indiana as a general education teacher where I taught 4th and 5th grade all content areas. After moving back to Dallas, I then began to teach 4th grade all content areas in Duncanville Independent School District where I was a member of the guiding coalition, district science curriculum team, and chosen as 1 of 10 for the Inspiring Leadership Academy.
My leadership journey began as an assistant principal with Idea Public Schools in Tarrant County. There, I was the campus leader of math instruction which supported our campus moving from “F” to “B” in one school year by targeting individual student growth goals, TEKS-aligned and rigorous Tier 1 Instruction, and daily exit ticket sorts to respond to student learning the following day. I was also successful in coaching all 19 teachers I managed to 100% proficiency.
In 2022, I was selected to grow my early childhood lens and join the Woodridge team.
Personally, my husband, Mikele and I have been married for 6 years and are raising two daughters. Together, as a family, we enjoy cooking, watching videos, and playing board games.
Woodridge is a school community working together to achieve academic, social and emotional growth for all our students. I look forward to working together to positively and successfully navigate our students' journeys.
